Job Title: Primary School Teaching Assistant

Your Role as a Teaching Assistant

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with class teachers to support lesson delivery and provide targeted interventions for pupils who need additional support – particularly those with SEND needs. You’ll help create an environment where every child feels encouraged, supported, and valued.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support Learning – Assist in planning and delivering engaging lessons and activities.
  2. SEND Support – Work with children with additional needs to help them access the curriculum.
  3. Encourage Independence – Promote confidence and learning in a nurturing way.
  4. Collaborate – Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and parents/carers.
  5. Maintain a Safe Environment – Ensure safeguarding and well-being remain top priorities.
  6. Monitor Progress – Support assessment and adapt strategies as needed.
What We’re Looking For
  1. Recent experience working in a school or childcare-related role.
  2. Experience supporting pupils with SEND is highly desirable.
  3. A caring, patient, and proactive attitude.
  4. Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for working with children.
  5. Relevant qualifications are a bonus but not essential with strong experience.

  3. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  4. A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
