Pre-Construction Engineer

The Role
The purpose of this role is to provide site engineering duties to a number of projects within the region. The Pre-Construction Engineer will establish the level and survey control for contracts and set out detailed works per the contract drawings, ensuring that checks are made regularly.

  2. Comply with company procedures and legal obligations
  3. Promote and comply with environmental compliance
  4. Deliver the works safely
Quality
  1. Promote best practice
  2. Comply with company procedures
  3. Ensure work is delivered defect/snag-free
  4. Endeavour to spot and highlight value engineering opportunities
Site engineering
  1. Establish the level and survey control for contracts
  2. Set out detailed works as per the contract drawings, ensuring checks are carried out regularly
  3. Ensure that records are accurate and comply with organisational and legal requirements
  4. Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise at any time
  5. Produce procurement schedules for the jobs and liaise with our procurement department to ensure the site has adequate resources to complete the tasks
  6. Produce ITPs and Task Briefings
  7. Produce 2 two-week look ahead in conjunction with the Site Agent
  8. Produce Site Diaries and Allocation Sheets
Key Measures and Targets
  1. Accurate and timely setting out of the works
  2. Timely handover of works and Quality records without outstanding defects
  3. Production of accurate records, drawing registers and weekly diaries
Key Relationships

Develop good working relationships with site workforce and customer's technical representative

About you
Essential
  1. Previous experience of setting out on civil engineering projects
  2. Sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations
  3. Fully conversant with the use of robotic total station or EDM instruments
  4. Degree qualified/HNC (or equivalent) in civil engineering
  5. Excellent communication skills
  6. Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook
Desirable
  1. Experience in using AutoCAD and MS Office
  2. Temporary-works co-ordination
  3. CSCS card
  4. Cable avoidance training
  5. First aid training
  6. NEBOSH or IOSH
