Job description

Are you passionate about making a difference? This could be the role for you!

Are you someone who believes in second chances? Do you have the passion and commitment to help people turn their lives around? You don’t need direct experience in this field—just the right attitude, transferable skills, or lived experience that gives you insight into the challenges people face after a conviction.

At Apex Scotland, we work with individuals who have been involved in the justice system, supporting them to build brighter futures. From helping people find work or boosting their confidence and motivation, we’re here to provide guidance, encouragement, and practical solutions. On the Way Ahead service, you will work alongside our partners Wheatley Foundation, Move On, SAMH, Street Soccer Scotland & GECCO to identify relevant opportunities and ensure a smooth transition into training, education and employment.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Working with partner agencies to progress participants into training, to gain qualifications & experience and ultimately into employment.
  • Identify funding opportunities to help Participants access training & qualifications.
  • Delivering appropriate and relevant casework that supports and reflects individual participant’s needs and circumstances. This includes the co-ordination of direct and indirect support in relation to their stage of the Apex Scotland Participant Journey.
  • Supporting people with convictions to overcome barriers and achieve their goals.
  • Offering one-to-one advice.
  • Connecting individuals with training, employment, and support services.
  • Challenging stigma and advocating for second chances.
  • Working collaboratively with other professionals and services.
You might be a great fit if you:
  • Have experience in supporting others - whether through work, volunteering, or personal experience.
  • Are a great communicator who can build trust and motivate people.
  • Have a non-judgmental and compassionate approach.
  • Can think on your feet and adapt to different challenges.
  • Believe in the potential for people to change.
What We Offer:
  • Full training - no prior experience in criminal justice needed.
  • A supportive and inclusive team that values your unique skills.
  • The opportunity to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

This role is ideal for anyone with experience in guiding, supporting, or working with others—whether through professional roles or personal lived experience—who wants to apply their skills in a new and meaningful way.

You will operate Glasgow wide and are required to be mobile and operate in an outreach manner, with means of access to regular travel and movement throughout the area.

This post is funded by Glasgow City Council until end of March 26 with potential for extension.

Membership of the Prevention of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is required.

We offer some great benefits, including family friendly policies, flexible and hybrid working and work-life balance. We also have generous annual leave entitlement, employee wellbeing scheme (Perkbox), pension scheme and death in service, company sick pay.

We welcome applications from individuals who share Apex Scotland’s aims and values and value diversity from all sections of the community.
