Main duties of the job
We are looking for an individual to lead our Practice Nurse & HCA team who will be responsible for the training and development of the team. The Practice Nurse Team leader will take part in annual staff appraisals and ensure good communication between the Practice Nurse & HCA team as well as the wider practice. They will display leadership as they proactively develop their team and work with other leaders in the practice to together solve the challenges that arise. As a qualified Nurse themselves, they will provide general practice nursing duties as well as managing patients with long-term conditions.

The Practice serves approximately 31,000 patients from our 4 surgeries in Earley, Lower Earley, Winnersh and Wilderness Road.

Job responsibilities
The Practice Nurse team lead will be responsible for:
- Lead the planning process for the nursing team, including setting goals and monitoring achievements/outcomes.
- Introduce, review and update clinical guidelines and protocols in accordance with latest evidence base.
- Critically evaluate new developments or service delivery models and contribute to leading their incorporation in the practice to enhance care, applying good change and management techniques.
- Critically evaluate skill mix, workload and practice service delivery needs to contribute to the practices learning and recruitment plan.
- Lead the nursing team by balancing the needs of individuals, the team and the practice, effectively managing conflict or differing needs and priorities.
- Delegate appropriately and effectively, monitoring performance and offering guidance and support, including ensuring and maintaining individuals competence.
- Point of contact for Practice Nurse & HCA team.
- Line management for Practice Nurse & HCA team, encouraging a positive and supportive environment in which to meet agreed KPIs.
- Awareness of team development alongside budget restraints on recruitment and training.
- Working alongside Senior Operations Manager, Senior HR Manager and HR & Support Partner for training and development.
- Drive the integration of BGPs vision, values and purpose across teams.
- The successful candidate will work as part of the clinical team and be responsible for consulting with patients in respect of their continuing medical and nursing needs.

Person Specification
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years' experience of working with healthcare professionals and or previous experience in the NHS
- Previously worked in a GP Surgery
- Experience of conducting staff appraisals and developing staff team
Qualifications
- Good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Educated to degree level in Nursing
- Specialism in Respiratory/Family planning/Diabetes
