Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and dedicated Practice Nurse to work alongside our team.

We are looking for a Part time Practice Nurse - 16 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

You will help to deliver nursing services to our local population including but not limited to immunisations, smear testing, B12 injections and managing long term conditions.

Manchester Road Surgery has 2 partner GPs, 1 salaried GP and serves 3600 patients.

As a forward-thinking practice, we require a similarly motivated and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team.

Job responsibilities
  1. Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by GP Partners.
  2. Cytology
  3. Urinalysis
  4. Travel Clinic
  5. Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry
  6. Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations
  7. Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
  8. Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
  9. Interest in Diabetes or Coronary Heart Disease and Contraception.
  10. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses.
  11. Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
  12. Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
  13. Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
  14. Ordering of Health Promotion Literature
  15. Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
  16. Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
  17. At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
  18. Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
  19. On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
  20. Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
Person Specification
Experience
  • Experience of working in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and The Scope of Professional Practice- Valid Nursing Pin
  • Experience of working as a Practice Nurse in a primary care setting
  • Experience of dealing with the public/patients
  • Experience of long term condition management, Diabetes, COPD, Asthma
  • Emis Web Experienced user
  • Experience of working in GP Practice
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities.

Qualifications
