Job description

The Ridgeway Surgery is a high achieving and friendly training practice currently looking to recruit a forward-thinking and committed Practice Nurse, ideally trained in diabetic management or with an interest in training in diabetes. We need a minimum of 28 hours but will consider up to full time, 37.5 hours. We offer a highly supportive environment and an excellent reputation within the area. We are willing to support with diabetic training for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role involve long term condition management clinics, cytology, immunisations, assessment, treatment, screening, and health education services and advice to patients on general health. We ideally would like a Practice Nurse with diabetic management experience or who has an interest in training in diabetes.

Job responsibilities
  1. Long term condition reviews and health management
  2. Immunisations, such as travel, baby, child and B12, routine
  3. Adherence to PGDs
  4. Cytology
  5. Wound care management
  6. Participation in team/clinical meetings
  7. Venepuncture
  8. 24 hr BP monitoring
  9. ECGs
  10. Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by the Partners/PM
  11. Lead for Infection Prevention and Control for the practice
  12. Home visits for housebound LTC reviews, flu/covid vaccinations if required
  13. Contraception advice as per protocols
  14. Maintain clinical records, ensuring accuracy
  15. Request pathology eg for urine culture, swabs
  16. Participate in continued learning
  17. Ear syringing
  18. Urinalysis

Qualifications
  • Registered general nurse NMC (Current UK Professional Registration)
Experience
  • Experience of cytology and childhood immunisations
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
