An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a forward-thinking rural practice with a commitment to teamwork and staff development. We are seeking a practice nurse to provide a combination of clinics, to include: all treatment room work, child immunisations, chronic disease management clinics and some telephone appointments. We are a training practice for both GP registrars and medical students and you will have input into both, working with our existing Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurse & Nurse Associate. Our 4 GPs support practitioners to develop their skills and reach their potential encouraging and supporting relevant training.
We are a multi-professional practice team of 4 GPs, 1 Nurse Practitioner, 1 Practice Nurse, a Nurse Associate, Pharmacist, a Physiotherapist, a Social Prescriber, a Phlebotomist and our administration support staff.
We believe that the right applicant will have at least 3-5 years of practice nurse experience and be ready to move forward to expand their skills and take responsibility for the care of their patients with our support. Job Summary:
To work alongside medical personnel in the care of practice patients including diagnosis and treatment, preventative care, screening, and patient education.
Job Responsibilities:
Supplies and equipment Treatment room and other areas:
In participation with the practice manager and other members of the nursing team, ensure the maintenance of equipment and stock levels relating to patient care.
Pathological specimens and investigatory procedures:
Undertake and/or supervise the collection, storage and dispatch of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, smears etc. and ensure the cleanliness of any equipment used. Perform any investigatory procedures for the practice as required.
Review any patient information, or correspondence received at the practice, including results, swabs, smears etc., and action appropriately according to practice protocol.
Administrative and professional responsibilities:

Co-operate and participate as required in any research projects within the practice.
Student/staff education and training:
Participate in the education and training of students of all disciplines and the induction of all members of practice staff with special responsibility for nursing staff.
Maintain effective liaison with other agencies and staff concerned with patient care and with all other disciplines within the practice, with appropriate regard to confidentiality.
Professional development:
Maintain continued education by attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development.
