Glemsford Surgery is looking for a committed Practice Manager to join our friendly and busy practice. We are seeking a part-time Practice Manager, contracted for 35 hours per week, most days of the week (hours per day negotiable). The Practice is based in Suffolk and has a list size of around 4700 patients.

We are a GP Practice aligned with the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (WSFT) with 3 GPs and a salaried workforce comprising of one ANP, one Practice Nurse, one HCA and a host of administrative staff. We also have affiliated staff we share with our PCN, like a physio, a clinical pharmacist and two care coordinators. The Practice Manager is supported by a Service Manager connected to the trust and will have a new Deputy Practice Manager role starting underneath you.

The team is looking for an excellent leader who possesses good communication skills and can lead and provide direction in a rapidly changing NHS environment. The post holder will work closely with the clinical team and WSFT to maintain and deliver the strategic goals and vision. Due to the new alliance with WSFT there is opportunity to innovate on primary/secondary care working.

Previous Primary Care management experience is essential.

  4. Health & Safety management of premises
  5. Rota management
  6. Non-clinical patient welfare
  7. Management of complaints
  8. IT troubleshooting and escalation

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide leadership and management skills to enable the practice to meet its agreed aims and objectives within a profitable, efficient, safe and effective working environment.

KEY TASKS:

  1. Keep abreast of current affairs and identify potential threats and opportunities.
  2. Contribute to practice strategy; formulate objectives and research and develop ideas for future practice development.
  3. Monitor and evaluate performance of the practice team against objectives; identify and manage change.
  4. Develop and maintain effective communication both within the practice and with relevant outside agencies.
  5. Prepare and annually update the practice development plan, and oversee the implementation of the aims and objectives.
  6. Assess and evaluate accommodation requirements and manage development and expansion plans.
  7. Coordinated with WSFT accountant manage practice budgets and seek to maximise income.
  8. Through negotiation with the PCN and preparation and submission of regular development plans, ensure the practice receives an appropriate and equitable allocation of resources.
  9. Understand and report on the financial implications of contract and legislation changes.
  10. Manage practice accounts with WSFT accountant.
  11. Monitor cash-flow.
  12. Manage and reconcile bank accounts; negotiate/liaise with the practice bankers.
