Your new company
Opportunity to join a major organisation that brings together local transport authorities and business leaders to advocate for and deliver improved transport infrastructure across a specific region. Established as the first statutory sub-national transport body in its country, the organisation aims to drive economic growth and enhance quality of life through modern transport connections.

Your new role
Provide day-to-day management and delivery of the clients' public relations activities, including events, advocacy opportunities, and political/parliamentary engagement to promote the North's transport investment needs.
Working with the Stakeholder Manager, design and deliver a proactive media and PR strategy to advocate and showcase transport investment/delivery, working closely with our partner organisations.
Manage projects/campaigns (internally and externally) as directed to support delivery of the client's business plan.
Act as press/media officer, including as part of an on-call rota for press enquiries and daily media monitoring.
Support the Stakeholder Manager in political and social media monitoring, ensuring insight/intelligence informs the organisation's communication and engagement activities.
Act as Comms Business Partner to designated teams, providing support/guidance to deliver comms/engagement plans and campaigns as directed.

What you'll need to succeed

  1. Substantial experience in developing PR and media strategies, handling plans, with effective key messages to gain traction/action in a multilayered and complex stakeholder/public environment.
  2. Substantial experience in managing effective public affairs and engagement activities, including media relations, social media, change communications, stakeholder engagement, conference and events, and e-communications.
  3. Substantial experience of establishing effective working relationships with stakeholders and the media, including political leaders and senior leaders. Proven ability to deal with a wide cross-section of stakeholders and partners effectively, clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  4. Strong analytical skills, based on systems, models, and metrics relevant to content & media management services provision.
  5. Up-to-date knowledge of external issues (legislative, regulatory, best practice standards etc.) that affect PR services provision.
  6. Substantial experience of working in a multichannel Communications/Corporate Engagement role, including political and parliamentary activities.
  7. Significant experience of producing high-quality content across multiple channels with the evidenced ability to translate complex issues into appropriate formats for target audiences.
  8. Experience of devising and delivering Communications/Corporate Engagement campaigns to support key organisational priorities.
  9. Proven ability to evaluate Communications/Corporate Engagement campaigns and to analyse, manipulate and report on such data and intelligence.
  10. Experience of using relevant digital channels and associated software, e.g., social media, newsletter production/distribution, and associated analytics/reporting.
  11. Meticulous attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

PR and Media Contractor - 3-month contract (potentially up to 6 months) - Hybrid working Manchester (2 days p/w on-site) - £340 p/d Inside IR35.
