Reporting to the Head of Brand & Communications and working with the Regional Marketing Managers, the role will manage global media engagement to support the business’ priorities and increase ICIS’ brand reputation in key markets across Americas, Europe and APAC.

The role will support the development and delivery of ICIS’ global media strategy and corporate narrative and lead the delivery of regional media engagement. The PR and Communications Manager will form an important part of the team's engagement with top-tier business, financial and trade media, as well as our internal stakeholders at all levels of seniority.

The candidate will help design and execute proactive strategies and campaigns to maximise opportunities for accurate and positive positioning and media coverage and will drive and support key marketing campaigns. Results will be geared toward building positive coverage and increasing the business’ share of voice in key markets globally.

The candidate should have a consistent record in project management, working collaboratively and using media (online, print, broadcast, social) to influence and build brand rapport. They will have a strong sense of what makes a newsworthy story and will be able to identify and develop stories that build ICIS’ brand reputation. The highly visible nature of the function, and the often-sensitive content involved, means that the PR and Communications Manager is required to demonstrate exemplary personal judgement and initiative while working as part of a close-knit and high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • A strategic, results-oriented thinker focused on generating tier-one media and select trade media attention in support of ICIS’ business objectives.
  • Manage and develop professional working relationships with key journalists and internal clients working closely with the PR agency.
  • Ability to function effectively and influence editorial and analyst team to align with company’s global brand and its approach to teamwork and collaboration to generate media coverage.
  • Deliver and execute global and relevant regional media strategies that enhance the global marketing strategy, working together for optimum results.
  • Confidently identify media hooks and/or explore media stories working with market experts to brainstorm and develop media pitches.
  • Ability to shape, identify and distil key media messages from research and marketing material to position ICIS as a thought leader in chemical and energy markets.

Skills Required:

  • At least five years experience working in media relations and external communications.
  • Can effectively work with various stakeholders to develop media pitches and formulate a calendar of activity anticipating media hooks.
  • Demonstrate management skills and ability to work closely with colleagues, vendors and PR agencies.
  • Excellent media relations skills and ability to develop stories and understand news cycles.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills for audiences ranging from general to business to technical - including news releases, talking points, Q&As, bylines, etc.
  • Comfortable in presenting his/her team’s projects and results to various stakeholders. Proactively reaches out to stakeholders to provide projects status.
