Job description

Job Description

Our Gas and Power team is dedicated to providing flexible market access solutions within the European Gas and Power sector. Based in our London office, you'll be part of a dynamic team that leverages Macquarie's liquidity in physical, financial, OTC, and cleared markets to support our clients.

At Macquarie, our advantage is bringing together diverse people and empowering them to shape all kinds of possibilities. We are a global financial services group operating in 34 markets and with 55 years of unbroken profitability. You'll be part of a friendly and supportive team where everyone - no matter what role - contributes ideas and drives outcomes.

What role will you play?

As a Power Trader, you will focus on European Gas and Power markets, contributing to our expanding Gas and Power business. You will engage directly with clients, leveraging your expertise to make markets for less liquid contracts and collaborate closely with our gas and carbon desks to support fundamental power modelling.

What you offer

  1. Approximately 5 years of trading experience, preferably in main Continental markets such as France and Germany
  2. Proven experience in working with sales and origination on client requests
  3. Ability and appetite to make markets for less liquid contracts (quarters, months, peaks) in core Continental markets
  4. Experience in asset-backed power trading (Spark-Spreads, Dark-Spreads, hourly profiles) is advantageous
  5. Interest in products that help manage 'transition assets' such as batteries and peakers is beneficial
  6. Good understanding of regulatory changes in core markets (CRE/BNetzA, purchase aggregators, lignite/nuclear retirements, etc.)
  7. An (advanced) university degree in science, engineering, or quantitative economics is an advantage

Join us in shaping the future of the European Gas and Power markets and be a part of a team that values innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.

We love hearing from anyone inspired to build a better future with us. If you're excited about the role or working at Macquarie, we encourage you to apply.
