Job description
This is an exciting contract opportunity for an experienced Power BI Specialist to play a key role in the data-led Microsoft Cloud transformation of a leading sustainability and environmental services provider. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to establish a Power BI Centre of Excellence, transform data into tangible insights, and align reporting solutions with the customers business goals.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and gather reporting needs.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications for reports and dashboards.
- Collaborate with data engineers and architects.
- Integrate Databricks with Power BI for seamless data workflows and reporting.
- Design user-friendly, visually compelling Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Develop and establish a Power BI Centre of Excellence to standardise BI practices.
- Define Power BI governance policies (consistency, scalability, security).
- Maintain Power BI best practices and documentation.
- Provide training to business users and team members on Power BI features.
- Lead workshops and create educational materials.
- Expertise in Power BI development and BI tools (Tableau, Qlik, etc.).
- Strong integration experience with Databricks for data analytics and reporting.
- Experience with SQL and Databricks.
- Knowledge of data modelling and working with large datasets.
- Experience establishing or managing Power BI Centers of Excellence (CoE).
- Experience in gathering business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Solid understanding of data visualisation principles and best practices.
- Ability to mentor and train junior team members and end users on Power BI.
- Rate Offered: £525 per day
- IR35 Status: Outside
- Location: 2-3 days per month onsite in Newcastle
- Start Date: April
- Duration: 3 months initial contract, significant opportunity for extension
