Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner (PBS)

Salary: £30,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 per week

Job Advert Role Description:

We are looking for a PBS Practitioner to cover our West Midlands Region!

At Priory Adult Care, we offer 24/7 specialist care in community settings. Our aim is to deliver support that enables individuals to develop and improve their quality of life outcomes.

The role will cover a number of services in the West Midlands, mainly in Wednesbury. You will need to have a full UK driving license for this role to enable travel between services.

The PBS practitioner will work closely with the people we support, colleague teams, and stakeholders to develop and deliver Positive Behaviour Support for individuals and services.

The post holder will use their expertise to support predominantly in the following areas:

  1. Development and implementation of Positive Behaviour Support Plans including Functional Behaviour Assessment
  2. Practice Leadership and Practice workshops
  3. Incident support, analysis, and colleague debrief
  4. Staff training & development

The ideal candidate will:

  1. Hold a formal qualification in Positive Behaviour Support (e.g., BSc in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, MSc Applied Behaviour Analysis, MA or MSc in Autism Studies, PBS Graduate Diploma, PBS BTEC Level 5)
  2. Be qualified or willing and able to work towards PROACT-SCIPr-UK Instructor

In addition, the candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  1. Person centred beliefs, values, and attitude
  2. Excellent communication skills
  3. The ability to work as part of a team in a leadership capacity, leading and influencing others positively
  4. An in-depth understanding of the principles of Positive Behaviour Support and Principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis
  5. A history in conducting behavioural assessment and developing, implementing, and evaluating interventions for individuals
  6. A history of direct support experience with people with a learning disability and/or Autism, and behaviours of concern
  7. A history of reducing the use of restrictive practices
  8. A history of the delivery of Positive Behaviour Support training
  9. Excellent record keeping and written skills including report writing
  10. Detailed understanding of the legal frameworks and policies relevant to the role, e.g., Mental Capacity Act (2005), DOLS, Safeguarding, risk management
