Job description

Join our team in Scarborough, United Kingdom, as a Porter/Catering Assistant for a part-time, term-time position. We're looking for an efficient and customer-focused individual to support our catering operations on Saturday, Sunday and Mondays. 10.30 - 19.00 rate of pay £12.21 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation and presentation, ensuring high standards of quality and hygiene.
• Serve meals and refreshments to students, staff, and visitors.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, dining rooms, and equipment.
• Transport food, supplies, and equipment between kitchen and service areas.
• Operate basic kitchen equipment and maintain cleanliness.
• Assist with inventory management and stock rotation.
• Provide excellent customer service to all patrons.
• Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Support catering events and special functions as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Strong work ethic and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, supportive attitude.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work weekends and Mondays from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM during term time.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Team player with the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen staff.
• Previous experience in catering or food service preferred.
• Food safety certification preferred.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and priorities.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
