About the Policy Team
The Policy Team at CDP interacts with and influences policy and regulation at global, regional and national levels and facilitates CDP engagement with standards and frameworks and other key organizations in the CDP ecosystem.
Job purpose and background
CDP’s Policy Team is looking for a highly motivated Policy Lead based in the UK. This exciting role will report to the Head of Policy - Europe and be responsible for driving impactful engagement in the UK to enhance policy conducive to more and better corporate environmental disclosure.
Key responsibilities include
- Lead the implementation of CDP’s policy strategy for the UK.
- Establish relationships and coordinate engagement with key policy actors, including arranging meetings and briefings with key national and subnational policymakers, authorities, and agencies.
- Develop/Update the external policy landscape mapping (including key partners and initiatives) to drive CDP engagement with key policy actors to achieve the policy objectives of the Policy Strategy.
- Lead the collaboration and coordination of policy activities in the UK across all of our stakeholders – corporations and supply chains, capital markets, and cities, states, and regions – to ensure clarity and consistency in our collective policy messaging and engagement.
- Provide advice to CDP colleagues and management about policy issues in the UK.
- Conduct ongoing and opportunistic relevant research, light data analysis, and external prospecting related to key policy and legislative developments in the UK.
- Lead on presentations and briefings, including external policy briefings and public comments, position papers, and pitch decks for policy engagement in the UK.
- Represent CDP externally at meetings and events.
- Track progress against Policy Team KPIs and support donor reporting, as needed.
You will have the following skills and experience
- At least 7 years' experience in working on sustainability policy topics, with a special focus on climate and/or water and/or forest and/or nature.
- Must be a self-starter, proactive, motivated, and collaborative with a strong 'can-do and will-do' attitude.
- Results-driven, with the ability to work in an agile, fast-paced, and evolving environment.
- Experienced in engaging, building trust and developing partnerships with policy stakeholders to secure buy-in and align activities with strategic goals.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills - can interact convincingly with people at different levels of seniority and different cultural backgrounds, whilst conveying complex policy information in a simple and effective way.
- Analytical, with excellent and diverse problem-solving skills and curious attention to detail.
- Strong relationships and network with UK policy stakeholders a plus.
Salary and benefits
- £46,000 - £60,000 per annum
