PURPOSE
Dorset Police are looking for a Police Staff Investigator to join their team. You will provide active professional support within the Criminal Investigation Department for the investigation of crime, covering all aspects of the investigative process that do not require formal Police powers.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties is not restrictive or exhaustive and the postholder may be required to carry out duties from time to time that are either commensurate with/or lower than the grade of the post. In some posts this might include the ad-hoc provision of guidance and informal training of new colleagues.

Essential Criteria
Essential Qualifications/Specific Training/Alternative relevant experience, knowledge, skills which are required for this post.
Criteria A: Demonstrates the ability to make and review decisions after gathering all available information, assessing risks and considering a range of options.
Criteria B: Demonstrates the ability to deal with potentially difficult and volatile situations in a professional, calm and innovative way.
Criteria C: Demonstrate the ability to work co-operatively as part of a team and unsupervised.
Criteria D: Demonstrates the ability to provide a high level of service to the public and to understand and assess individual needs.
Criteria E: Demonstrate the ability to prioritise and carry out tasks in a structured way in line with set objectives / priorities.
Criteria F: Demonstrates sound verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable Criteria
Desirable Qualifications/Specific Training/Alternative relevant experience, knowledge, skills which are required for this post.
Criteria H: For PIP1 Roles – Qualified PIP Level 1/2 Investigator or recognised transferrable investigative experience.
Criteria I: Working knowledge of the criminal justice system, application of PACE and Human Rights.
Criteria J: Specialist Policing Skills such as Holmes, Exhibit/ Disclosure training.
