Carrickfergus (Peripatetic clinics as required throughout Northern Ireland)

Police Service Northern Ireland, Occupational Health Nursing Adviser Occupational Health & Wellbeing (OH&W)

Hours of Work: Full-Time, Monday - Friday 37 hours per week.

Location: Carrickfergus (Peripatetic clinics as required throughout Northern Ireland)

Salary: Agenda For Change Band 7: £43,742 to £50,056 plus £1365 (environmental allowance)

The role holder will be accountable to the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) for the provision of professional occupational health nursing assessment, care, and advice to management and individual clients. The role holder will support the improvement of the health and wellbeing of police officers and police staff through the provision of occupational health nursing assessment, advice and support related to: Fitness for Work, Health & Wellbeing, and Health Protection.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The main duties and responsibilities associated with the role include:

  1. Case Management
  2. Fitness for Work
  3. Pre-Placement Health Assessment (Police Officers & Police Staff)
  4. Health Surveillance
  5. Health Protection - Vaccination Programmes
  6. Health and Wellbeing

Essential Qualifications

Registered Nurse: Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC): Part 1 AND an additional specialist qualification in Occupational Health Nursing, i.e. Diploma, Degree or MSc in Occupational Health Nursing.

Essential Skills and Experience

  1. 1 year’s post-basic general nursing experience with an additional minimum of 1 year working within an occupational health setting.
  2. Experience of carrying out clinical assessments for fitness for work, including managing rehabilitation and return to work programmes.
  3. Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in case management and compiling reports.
  4. Experience of liaising with HR professionals and line management in relation to fitness for work and the provision of occupational health nursing advice.
