Are you an experienced or recently qualified engineer, looking for an opportunity as a PLC Systems Programmer / Automation Technician? Are you looking for a new opportunity and would like to join an established, successful manufacturing business?

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Software Engineer, the successful candidate will form part of the engineering team and play a key role in providing a machine programming and integration service to customer projects.

Following in-house procedures, you will be tasked with producing project design documentation in accordance with the customer requirements and will be responsible for the integration and programming of these systems through development to final testing and commissioning stages.

The role is full-time, based at the business's Telford operation, but there will be a requirement to visit customer sites both nationally and internationally (Europe).

The Successful Candidate

Must have a sound knowledge of industrial control systems and be able to demonstrate their understanding of PLC, HMI, Motion Control Systems and the programming of such devices to include troubleshooting and diagnostics.

Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Working knowledge of PLC programming (primarily in Ladder). Ideally, have knowledge of Omron Sysmac Studios. But training will be given to the right candidate.
  • Have a good understanding of HMI, Servo systems and Inverter control.
  • Understanding of machinery safety and legislation (training will be provided).
  • Experience in electrical fault finding, diagnosing technical issues with software.
  • Experience across the full range of Microsoft Office products enabling the production of technical documentation.
  • Experience in manufacturing/assembly/process environments.
  • Electrical Engineering qualification such as a recognised apprenticeship and/or HNC.
  • This role would suit somebody looking to improve on their PLC programming ability or somebody who is recently qualified and looking to start their career in automation control.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing customer requirements.
  • Production of supporting system documentation i.e. technical files and operator manuals.
  • Control system software development/maintenance & system testing.
  • Supporting FAT and SAT activities.
  • End user training either at base or on customer sites as required.
  • Customer-based installation, commissioning and breakdowns.
  • Report problems and deficiencies in the design and brief.
  • Maintain files and records throughout the duration of the contract.
  • Assist in the development of new products in line with the company business objectives.
  • Working with key external strategic partners and suppliers.

Salary

  • £38-40K DOE

Normal working hours & shift patterns?

  • 08.00 - 17.00 Mon - Thursday, 08.00 - 14.30 Friday.
  • Work outside of these hours may be required.
