PLC Software Engineer – Derby – Permanent – £30-50k + overtime + bonus. Some home working available / access to pool cars for site work
Samuel Frank is recruiting for a PLC Software Engineer with strong knowledge (or a willingness to learn!) of Siemens control systems to join a rapidly growing, Derby based, specialist engineering company.
This opportunity could suit a PLC Software Engineer with a Degree plus 1-5 years’ experience or a PLC Software Engineer who has come through an apprenticeship scheme and gained experience after completing it. Alternatively, the company is open to integrating a PLC Software Engineer with more experience, basically, we’re open to all options, hence the wide suggested salary range!
Key aspects of the PLC Software Engineer position include:
- Great opportunity to learn Siemens industrial controls systems (99% of their projects use Siemens kit) – the role would involve attending a Siemens course and then shadowing an experienced PLC Software Engineer whilst learning on the job. Engineers with existing Siemens experience will be considered favourably.
- Write PLC and HMI code in Ladder, STL and/or SCL.
- Small company environment, so you’d be exposed to the full project life cycle – great opportunity to see your work through to completion whilst delivering on all stages of the project.
- Familiarity with IEC 61131-3.
- Control Networks: ProfiNET, Asi – useful knowledge to have.
- Creation of Software Design Specifications (SDS) and Functional Design Specifications (FDS).
- Setup and commissioning of drives and associated systems & software interfaces.
- The company has a flexible approach with their staff, there’s always support available and the company based performance bonus typically pays between 5-15% of your basic salary.
- The Engineering Manager estimates the PLC Software Engineer role will be roughly a 50/50 split between being based in the office/workshop and on site, with projects typically taking 4-8 weeks to commission. Almost all of the projects are UK based and would very rarely involve any weekend working.
- Full UK driving licence.
- All PLC Software Engineers applying for the role must be able to work in the UK without sponsorship.
The client is easily commutable from the following places – Burton on Trent, Derby, Nottingham, Loughborough, Chesterfield and the surrounding areas.
