Job Description

The Connectivity Platform Engineering Specialist contributes to the seamless delivery of all IT services for the Connectivity Platform. This role designs, builds, tests, and scales services. It is heavily involved in design and implementation activities that result in new or improved I&O capabilities, and it brings skills and expertise to areas such as automating tasks (e.g., cloud, network), provisioning, and configuration management.

The Platform Engineering Specialist collaborates closely with Platform Architects, product/platform teams, security, and network specialists, as well as other roles in infrastructure and operations. Being an approachable team player is crucial for success. The Platform Engineer is expected to demonstrate strong attention to detail and a customer-centric mindset.

The role is fundamental for ensuring stable, performant, and secure I&O Platforms which form easyJet’s technological backbone.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Platform Engineering Specialist works within the I&O Platforms team and is assigned to the Connectivity Platform. The role reports to the Platform Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Designing solutions based on stakeholder requirements.
2. Platform engineering and configuration.
3. Overseeing version and patch release and deployment.
4. Providing technical expertise as part of the Platform maintenance, support, and troubleshooting activities.

Architecture Responsibilities:

1. Security & Compliance By Design - Resolving potential security threats and vulnerabilities identified in risk assessments in collaboration with easyJet InfoSec team.
2. System Optimisation & Improvement.
3. Evaluating technologies in terms of scalability, fit to current and future needs, interoperability, and security and compliance aspects.

Strategy & Planning Responsibilities:

1. Contributing to the creation and execution of an end-to-end automation strategy for I&O Platforms; streamlining operations and automating repetitive tasks and establishing self-correcting mechanisms to minimise manual interventions and increase value for money.

Requirements of the Role

CORE SKILLS

1. Proficiency in designing scalable and reliable technology Platforms, including knowledge of system components, architecture patterns, and integration techniques.
2. Demonstrable ability to manage and continuously improve infrastructure components such as servers, databases, cloud services, network, and storage systems.
3. Experience in IT service management (ITSM) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
4. Demonstrable experience of agile development methodologies (such as Scrum/Sprints).
5. Strong scripting skills (e.g., Terraform, Python, PowerShell) to automate repetitive tasks, streamline workflows, and improve operational efficiency.
6. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud services to design, deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure.
7. Knowledge of virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and containerisation tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
8. Experience in managing and delivering through third-party suppliers, focusing on business outcomes.

SPECIFIC PLATFORM SKILLS

Key tech skills for Connectivity:

1. Strong experience in Cisco access, routing, and core technologies.
2. Experience with SDWAN and Cisco Meraki core technology.
3. Knowledge of Zero trust technology.
4. Experience of dynamic routing.
5. Experience of WAN technologies.
6. Strong experience of VPN troubleshooting and creation.
7. Experience of multi-vendor firewall environments.
8. Experience in the implementation of network access controls.
9. Knowledge of AWS architecture including deployment of virtual Palo Alto, Lambda scripts, and CloudWatch.

Location & Hours of Work
This full-time role will be based in Luton and will be 40 hours per week. Hybrid working with 3 days in the office.
