Starting salary: £30,461, increasing to £34,925 after completion of first stamp.

Our Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) organisation partners with a range of global customers, working closely with major airlines such as British Airways, easyJet, Wizz Air, Iberia, Vueling, Air Canada, Etihad, and Qatar.

What will I be doing?

Working as a Plater within our Production area, key duties and tasks include:

  1. Electrical circuitry and Surface Finishing - Chromium, Nickel Cadmium, and Zinc Nickel
  2. Prepare and mask up components during the pre-plating process
  3. Set up tooling, fixtures, and assist in new tooling design
  4. Use a wide and varied range of precision measuring equipment
  5. Read component maintenance manuals, complex drawings, and engineering layout information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to complete repairs of parts within specified dimensions and tolerances
  6. Diagnose vat, electrical or tooling malfunctions to determine need for adjustment or repairs
  7. Adhere to COSHH and safe use of chemicals
  8. Operation of de-embrittlement and stress relief
  9. Delivery of components to next process
  10. Working on priorities from PAC 1
  11. Operation of cranes
  12. Working from SOPs
  13. Understanding and mapping of CMM
  14. Cleaning, Masking, Heating, and Waxing Components
  15. Calculating plating thickness and plating times
  16. Measuring components using internal/external micrometers / comparators / bore micrometers / verniers / electrometers
  17. Monitoring line to check vats are at correct temperature and rectifiers are at correct amperage
  18. 5S checks
  19. Part marking
  20. Passivation & passivation 124
  21. Weekly maintenance tasks
  22. Grit blasting, strip chrome, Shot peening, strip cad & strip sermetel

Job Requirements

• An Engineering/Plating Apprenticeship or equivalent ideally gained in the aerospace or automotive sectors – preferred/not required
• IMF Foundation / Technician Qualification or equivalent – preferred/not required
• High attention to detail with strong quality awareness

• Self-managing and reliable
• Good problem-solving skills
• Flexibility
• Must be willing to train and take on board new skills

• You will be required to work shift rotations comprising of Days, Lates, Nights, and when required, Weekends
