Job description

We are currently working with one of the South's leading utility and reinstatement companies.

This position offers a stable career with a well-established contractor boasting a healthy order book with several clients and the freedom to manage your own workload across the areas.

Salary to GBP75k Company Vehicle or Allowance Pension 28 Days Holiday

Key Essentials:

  1. Reporting to senior management; your role will involve overall management of the company's plant and transport. The fleet entails circa.120 vehicles including vans, cars, pick-ups, 7.5t lotties, grabs and hotboxes. Plant includes minidiggers (to 1.5t), trailers, whackers, breakers and small plant.
  2. Utilising and maintaining the fleet to the best of its capabilities.
  3. Ensuring that all vehicles are routinely serviced with essential maintenance carried out; ensuring that O Licence conditions, FORS and DVSA guidelines are adhered to.
  4. Ensuring that all P&T records are kept up to date.
  5. Enforce the group vehicle policy; ensure that all drivers/operators have the correct/valid licence for the fleet being driven.
  6. Maintain relations with fleet/hire companies; regularly negotiate rates and agreements.
  7. Ensure fleet insurance premiums are monitored on a bi-annual basis; negotiating with brokers.
  8. Point of contact when investigating fleet accidents; manage claims with any affected parties.
  9. Provide fleet recommendations to senior management - comparing asset life cycle ownership costs against hire costs; taking into account contract requirements.
  10. Monitor fuel consumption including negotiating prices.
  11. Regularly attending transport and management meetings.
  12. Attending regular planning meetings to understand plant movement for the forthcoming weeks; relaying information with the P&T department.

Requirements:

  1. Previous experience as a Plant & Transport Manager for a Civil Engineering / Utility company.
  2. Qualified with Transport Manager CPC with excellent knowledge of Goods Vehicles Operator licence (O Licence) requirements.
  3. It is essential that you have excellent I.T Skills in Microsoft Office packages.
