Plant Operator - Anaerobic Digestion

Astute's Renewables team is partnered with a leading business, who build and operate a portfolio of Anaerobic Digestion assets. They are looking to recruit a Plant / Site Operator for their site near Shepton Mallet.

The Operator will play a vital role in ensuring the day to day running of the renewable energy plant and comes with a salary of up to 32,000 (depending on experience), overtime and a call out retainer.

We would be keen to hear from candidates with agricultural experience or Ex-Military with mechanical skills.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will:

1. Carry out the day to day operations of the anaerobic digestion plant
2. Use the SCADA control systems to monitor the process
3. Carry out planned & reactive maintenance of the plant, which will include working on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, pipework etc once competent
4. Feed fuel into the process using mobile plant such as a telehandler
5. Respond to machine and systems failures once trained
6. General site housekeeping, keeping it clean and tidy
7. Ensure adherence with health & safety
8. Other duties as required

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

1. A relevant Engineer degree is desired but not essential
2. Mobile plant licence/tickets
3. Full UK driving licence

Personal skills

The Plant / Site Operator role would suit someone who has:

1. Experience working in anaerobic digestion or a similar processing environment.
2. Living within 30-35 minutes maximum of the site
3. Experience operating mobile plant such as a telehandler or loading shovel
4. Experience carrying out first line maintenance on processing plant such as pumps & conveyers would be an advantage
5. Knowledge of SCADA or DCS would be an advantage
6. Hard working and happy to work outside in an agricultural environment
