Plant Operator - Anaerobic Digestion

Astute's Renewables team is partnering with a key business and influential player in the UK anaerobic digestion biogas sector. Together, we are looking to recruit a Plant Technician for their site based near Fakenham, operating across a 4 on 4 off days shift pattern.

The Plant Operator position comes with a salary up to £40,000, plus bonus, and other excellent company benefits including development opportunities into the sector.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Site Manager you will:

1. Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and first-line repairs on plant machinery and equipment.
2. Operate and monitor SCADA systems to ensure efficient energy production.
3. Efficiently operate mobile plant equipment such as Telehandler and Loading Shovel.
4. Ensure high levels of Health, Safety, and Environmental practice, with a duty of care to yourself and others, completing all safety and operational checks as required.
5. Control mobile plant and vehicles in the area (traffic management).
6. Assess incoming and outgoing loads for quality and report any contamination.
7. Ensure the safe loading and unloading of vehicles.
8. Report any accidents, incidents, damage, or suspicious activity immediately.
9. Weigh-bridge operation and sample taking for laboratory testing as required.
10. Assist with and complete various maintenance tasks.
11. Other duties as required.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

1. Agricultural background, or experience in a transferable environment, i.e. waste water, heavy industrial or similar.
2. Practical experience in mechanical maintenance is highly desirable.
3. A basic understanding of electrical systems would be beneficial.

Personal skills

The Plant Technician role would suit someone who is:

1. Technically minded with prior experience hands on with mechanical/electrical maintenance activities.
2. Keen and proactive attitude to site operations.
3. Comfortable to work across an environment with odours.

4 on 4 off shift pattern, 6am - 6pm.
