Responsibilities and Duties of the Plant Maintenance Engineer Role

Reporting to the Lead Commercial Engineer you will:

1. Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical plant equipment including pumps, actuators, pressurisation units, and heat exchangers.
2. Attend to reactive maintenance call-outs and restore operations efficiently across a variety of plant assets.
3. Undertake mechanical fault finding and carry out effective repairs on commercial non-gas plant components.
4. Assist in planning and executing plant upgrade projects, including defining scope of work and on-site implementation.
5. Support safe isolation procedures for mechanical and electrical systems prior to maintenance work.
6. Collaborate with engineering leads and other internal teams to ensure the smooth operation of heating networks.
7. Maintain accurate digital records and work orders within the company's maintenance management system.
8. Participate in a shared on-call rota (approximately one week in four) to support out-of-hours plant emergencies.
9. Analyse recurring faults to identify root causes and recommend long-term solutions.
10. Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on energy efficiency and network reliability.

Professional Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

1. 1-2 years of hands-on experience in a commercial plant maintenance role.
2. Operational knowledge of commercial gas boilers and associated plantroom equipment.
3. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and mechanical schematics.
4. Basic electrical competency and familiarity with safe isolation protocols.
5. Possession of a full UK driving licence (valid for at least 12 months).
6. Can work an on-call rota (approximately 1 in 7 weeks).
