Job description

Position: Plant and Vehicle Fitter
Salary: up to £40,950 plus van provided
Team: Plant
Status: Full-Time
Location: Stafford
Reporting to: Plant Director

Job Purpose:
Repair and maintain company vehicles, plant, and machinery as per schedules or Plant and Transport Director's direction.

Responsibilities:

  1. Regular night work
  2. Provide on-site breakdown support. Work abroad
  3. Maintain repair records.
  4. Coordinate with Plant & Transport administrator.
  5. Adhere to Health & Safety Policy.

Experience and Qualifications:

  1. Relevant background in a similar role
  2. NVQ/SVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant or Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
  3. Proficiency in hydraulic systems.
  4. Knowledge of plant diesel engines.
  5. Proven repair and maintenance experience.
  6. The role will require use of your own tools.
  7. Understanding of safety regulations.
  8. Full UK Driving License.

This job involves a mix of day and night shifts, occasional travel, and comes with a tax-free working away allowance and a 30% uplift for night shifts. Day shifts are typically from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, night shifts from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, with occasional mix-and-match shifts for repair coverage. Flexibility and varied work locations are key.

The right candidate will be open to 30% to 50% working away and this could be for several continuous months (but home at weekends) or a couple of weeks here and there (home at weekends).

When not working away you will either be working in Penkridge or will be on a site that is within travelling distance to your home address.

You are expected to provide your own small tools (spanners, screwdrivers, socket sets, toolboxes etc) but you get an annual tool allowance of £300. Any big power tools or specialist tools will be provided by the client.
