Job description

A client within the Public Sector based in the East Midlands is currently recruiting for a Planning Officer to join their team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a planning policy environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to lead or support a range of planning policy workstreams and projects, including preparation of evidence-based documents, policy drafting, consultation, and assisting in public examination processes. The role involves representing the Council, providing policy advice, maintaining databases, and engaging with communities and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Will Include But Not Be Limited To

  • Leading or assisting in the delivery of planning policy and design guidance, and managing evidence base projects.
  • Supporting place-shaping projects through research, stakeholder engagement, and analysis.
  • Representing the Council at hearings, public events, and meetings, and contributing to Local Plan objectives.
The Candidate

To Be Considered For This Role You Will Require

  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification that allows access to Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
  • Licentiate membership of the RTPI (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience of working on a range of planning policy projects or non-major planning applications.
The Below Skills Would Be Beneficial For The Role

  • Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (or equivalent).
  • Experience using GIS and computerised planning systems.
  • Ability to carry out site visits across varied and potentially challenging outdoor locations.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £50 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £40 per hour PAYE).
