Job Overview: Working on behalf of our client, an established manufacturer of plastic packaging solutions, we are looking for a Planning Manager to join their established team.
Remit:
- As Planning Manager, you will be responsible for factory planning using MRP as well as planning and prioritizing operations to ensure maximum performance and utilization.
- Working closely with cross-functional teams to meet customer demands whilst maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency, successful candidates will have a background in FMCG manufacturing and display critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Role:
- Develop and manage production plans, ensuring alignment with sales forecasts, customer orders, and production capacity.
- Expediting and prioritizing work orders to create production plans that meet customer demand in the most efficient way.
- Issue and track production orders, ensuring that required material is supplied to the production floor according to the production schedule.
- Interface with manufacturing personnel, purchasing, etc., on material status and production planning issues.
- Analyze sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements.
- Provide support to production and management as required and take charge of the planning department to cover holiday periods.
- Monitor the availability of raw materials for planned manufacturing, using stock availability reports.
- Manage the raw materials and packaging inventory for on-time delivery, precise stock records, and budget/space compliance.
- Formulate cost-effective manufacturing plans aimed at achieving Delivery Cost Improvement.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance planning efficiency.
- Maintain records of orders received, completed work, and inventory.
- Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements, promoting a safe and sustainable working environment.
Experience Requirements:
- Experience of production planning within an FMCG company.
- Knowledge of plastic material sourcing & purchasing would be highly advantageous but not essential.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and MRP/APS.
- Strong understanding of production planning, inventory control, and supply chain management.
- Able to convey technical knowledge effectively.
- Great attention to detail, self-motivated, as well as excellent communication skills.
- Be strongly analytical, display critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
