Planning Development Manager
Salary: £49,764 - £53,880 per annum
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and passionate planning professional to lead our development management function.
Devon County Council is an ambitious and diverse organisation that is responsible for a wide range of services. In addition to planning, this includes education, social care, highways, libraries, waste management, public health, and economic development. We work with our partners and communities to make Devon a great place to live, work, and visit.
We are looking for an experienced professional with significant experience at a senior level in development management, comprehensive knowledge of planning law and practice with regards to all aspects of development management, and strong knowledge of minerals and waste. As an effective communicator, you will be a proven team player and have extensive experience liaising with Councillors, stakeholders, and presenting at committee.
Devon’s Planning Team has a key role in planning for minerals and waste, supporting development and delivering infrastructure whilst also ensuring that we respond positively to Devon County Council’s climate emergency declaration. It’s an interesting time to join the team which is dealing with a breadth of planning applications as well as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP). The team is flexible and dynamic, working across all areas of planning. You will support them in this, providing leadership to the team and having a key role in supporting their development and empowering the team to make robust decisions.
