Job description

We are supporting a food manufacturing business in Dorchester, who are looking for a Planning and Stock Control Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the purchasing, stores and planning functions to ensure optimal performance in control of materials, costs and inventory to deliver OTIF. You must have relevant experience from a similar industry for this position.


Duties will include:
  1. Effectively managing direct reports, providing coaching and training to deliver continual improvement in service level, standard costs and control of inventory.
  2. Ensuring all goods in stores & WIP are receipted, stored and issued FIFO in accordance with the company's IMS procedures taking effective corrective action where deviation occurs.
  3. Maintaining systems to continuously monitor and maintain 100% accurate stock availability within the different areas, communicating any issues or shortages to the Purchasing controller, Planning Controller and Production / Packing.
  4. Effectively maintaining processes to ensure that required stock is prepared and issued in a timely manner (and before the planned manufacture / packing run) in accordance to the plan and/or changes communicated.
  5. Maintaining effective planning systems to produce optimal weekly and monthly production plans based on capacity constraints and labour availability, reduction of waste and low dated stock by trending data.
  6. Investigating stock shortages and shrinkage, implementing corrective actions as required.
  7. Collaborate with production, packing and warehouse teams to establish efficient storage and movement of materials.
  8. Maintaining systems for forward capacity plans ensuring all seasonal demand is met OTIF.
  9. Identify, analyse, and resolve supply chain issues to minimise risk and maximise efficiency.
  10. Manage the delivery of departmental KPIs.
  11. Maintaining effective systems to control a perpetual, weekly, monthly and annual stock check, investigating all variances.
  12. In liaison with the purchasing controller, conduct regular performance evaluations of suppliers to drive continuous improvement and maintain compliance with food safety standards.

This is a full time, permanent position. The salary is £45,000 PA.
