  • Salary Level HEW 9 ($130,748 - $140,089) + 17% Superannuation
  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and / or be based at other campuses of the University

About You

The Manager of Planning and Operations is responsible for providing high-level support and strategic advice to the Office of the CIO and the operations of the ITS Function. This role involves managing the effective planning and management of resources and operations, as well as offering independent advice, critical business support, and project management services to enhance the Technology Function's efficiency and effectiveness.

The incumbent will:

  • Oversee the function’s operations, including financial management in collaboration with the Finance Business Partner, as well as planning, performance monitoring, and reporting.
  • Implement necessary cultural and work practice changes to align with the function’s strategic directions.
  • Contribute to generating improvement ideas, identifying gaps and inefficiencies, and proposing solutions to enhance delivery practices and working methods.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the capacity to initiate, lead, and manage effectively in a challenging and dynamic environment.
  • Provide strategic advice and support to Senior Managers within ITS.
  • Proven experience in managing, leading, and developing teams.
  • Expertise in managing and delivering services within a complex organization, preferably in the tertiary education sector.
  • Experience in developing, interpreting, and implementing budget and financial management strategies.
  • Highly developed analytical and data analysis skills in resourcing, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Expertise in planning, change management, and project delivery.
  • Advantageous experience working with teams or managers in agile, scrum, and lean environments.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical abilities to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead, direct, and influence others, including a proven capacity to build and maintain effective relationships with various internal and external groups.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team to achieve identified goals.
  • High-level competency in Microsoft Office and BI applications to support the position's accountabilities, coupled with executive-level report writing and data visualization skills.

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
