Job Title: Planner

We are now recruiting for both a Planner and Conservation Officer – Planning Development or a hybrid of the two roles. Whichever role you apply for, you will deal with a full range of activities including pre-application enquiries, applications of all types and scale, and appeals within a District with a diverse range of planning issues.

If the role is a hybrid of the Planner and Conservation Officer, then you will cover both aspects.
Ideally, you will have a few years’ experience of dealing with a wide range of planning applications and/or heritage matters with the ability to engage positively with applicants and/or their agents and negotiate on planning proposals. We are customer-focused and aim to put all people we come into contact with at the centre of what we do.
You will be working with a permanent, professional, committed, and experienced team who are passionate about supporting us to deliver the objectives as outlined in our Community Plan.
Geographically, Newark and Sherwood is the largest District in Nottinghamshire, incorporating the centres of Newark, Southwell, and Ollerton, together with large rural areas. The planning department deals with schemes ranging from large urban extensions (3000 houses and associated infrastructure), employment and retail developments, flood risk issues, schemes for gypsy and traveller provision, and protecting the area’s important heritage.
