Job summary

An established industry player is seeking a skilled pipefitter to join their team in Portsmouth. In this role, you will be responsible for repairing and refitting both Royal Naval and commercial vessels. Job description

As a pipefitter, you'll be involved in repairing and refitting both Royal Naval and commercial vessels. You'll join our skilled team and work in our modern facilities with state-of-the-art equipment. Most of your work will be done on-board ships.

In order to be considered for the role, you must have completed an appropriate trade apprenticeship or naval equivalent qualification.

Day to day you will:
  1. Ensure safe systems of work are carried out
  2. Read/Interpret Mechanical/Pipe Drawings
  3. Pipe fabrication from 8mm to 323mm in different types of material
  4. Taking wires and setting to boards
  5. Braze both silver and soft solder to class 1 standards
  6. Test pipework on completion of manufacture
  7. Install pipework into various systems
Experience we are looking for:
  1. A sound knowledge of all pipework systems and materials including connectors, adaptors, couplings, and fastenings is essential as is the ability to braze to required standards.
  2. A deep understanding of all domestic plumbing within a ship environment, removal and installation.
  3. The ability to weld (TIG, MMA) would be beneficial but not essential, as would be the ability to work with and install composite pipework.
