We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and skilled Physiotherapist to join the Integrated Community Stroke and Neuro Rehabilitation team, within the Therapies Directorate at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. If you are passionate about the rehabilitation of stroke & neurorehabilitation patients and have experience within the clinical speciality, we are looking for you to become a valued member of our team.

We are a large integrated community team, consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Psychologists, Dietetics and Integrated Therapy Assistants, working with patients in their own homes and some community clinics.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to rotate between the Stroke, Neurorehabilitation & Acquired Brain Injury pathways. We are also hoping to extend these rotations onto the acute stroke unit in the near future.

Main duties of the job

The variety of Stroke and Neuro patients that we come across on a daily basis will allow you to extend your clinical knowledge and clinical reasoning in this field of practice.

Working within the service requires you to demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and forward thinking. The ability to work within a fast paced and pressured environment is essential, along with having excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate must have a passion for learning and educating others, while demonstrating high levels of drive to improve their own skills and knowledge. You must also be patient-centred in your approach to your clinical practice.

Job responsibilities

As a static Band 6 Neuro Physiotherapist you will be responsible for the assessment, treatment planning and rehabilitation of patients who have been diagnosed with a neurological condition or have survived a stroke.

You will be responsible for supporting the discharge planning process of such patients, via liaison with the multi-disciplinary team on the acute stroke unit to ensure discharges are timely and effective for patients.

You will be provided with the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and also to engage in, or lead, any service development projects.

Candidates should be willing to support other team members in their development, including junior Physiotherapists, therapy assistants and students. This will include active participation in clinical supervision sessions and an in-service training rota.

This full-time post (37.5 hours per week) will require you to work weekends on a rota basis. However, this post has no on-call commitment.

EXPERIENCE
  • Post-graduate stroke and/or neurology experience
  • Management, development and supervision of junior staff members or students
  • Experience of undertaking audit
  • Active participation with in-service training
  • Evidence of extended skills.
Qualifications
  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio, including attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to the speciality.
  • Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • Membership of Special Interest Groups relevant to speciality
