An Ofsted rated Good Secondary school in West London is looking for a dedicated PE Teacher.

All pupils undertake weekly PE lessons across a range of indoor and outdoor sports and fitness activities. The school has a holistic approach for PE lessons to improve students’ health and well-being and to encourage students to become physically competent and to promote a lifelong healthy approach to fitness.

You should have a good understanding of the PE national curriculum and be able to teach pupils at all ability levels. You will work within a small, dedicated PE teaching team and should have an engaging teaching approach, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to inspire pupils.

Culture and Inclusion

Leading by example, working closely with colleagues to plan the school’s work and with parents to ensure a supportive learning environment both at home and at school, you will be helping to shape a pupil’s knowledge and build on their unique personality and skills.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

As a PE Teacher you will:

  1. Plan appropriate and effective lessons ensuring all pupils are learning to the best of their ability.
  2. Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to pupils.
  3. Plan your lessons to meet the Curriculum for Excellence national guidance.
  4. Keep up to date with changes and developments to the national teaching curriculum.
  5. Work with colleagues to plan and coordinate lessons.
  6. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet pupils’ varying needs and interests.
  7. Motivate pupils with enthusiastic and creative work schemes using different teaching methods, including solo work, group work, whole-class work, demonstrations, and experiments.
  8. Direct the work of learning support and Teaching Assistants (TAs).
  9. Provide a safe and healthy environment and follow safeguarding procedures.
  10. Attend meetings, parent’s evenings, and teacher training programmes.
  11. Organise outings, after school clubs, school social activities, and sports events.
  12. Take responsibility for the academic progress of each pupil.
  13. Establish and enforce rules for behaviour and procedures for maintaining order among the pupils.
  14. Challenge and rectify inappropriate behaviour following the school’s behaviour policy.
  15. Create a classroom environment that learners respect and work together to achieve learning goals.
  16. Encourage pupils to research topics themselves, helping and supporting individual pupils as required.
  17. Set assignments, projects, and tests, carry out continuous assessment, mark pupils’ work, and write reports.
  18. Carry out administrative work, including keeping a register of pupils, updating records, and writing reports.
  19. Set and mark homework, record completion, and individual pupil progress.
  20. Participate in training and development sessions at the school, partner schools, or other training organisations.
  21. Liaise with senior leadership, parents, and external bodies concerning progress, behaviour, child protection, and health.
  22. Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their child/children’s progress and determine priorities and resource needs.

Must Have:
