As an ACT Pharmacy Technician at our NHS hospital in Bristol, you'll play an essential role in supporting the pharmacy team and ensuring patient safety. Your day will typically look like this:
You'll begin your shift by reviewing the medication orders and prescriptions that have been submitted overnight. You'll ensure that all necessary items are ready for dispensing and that any potential issues are flagged for review.
After ensuring the prescription orders are processed accurately, you will be involved in managing stock levels. You'll check medication inventories and ensure that essential medicines are well-stocked and stored safely in line with NHS standards.
You will be dispensing medications to patients and preparing them for collection or delivery. This requires a high level of attention to detail to ensure that every prescription is filled accurately and appropriately.

In the final stretch of your shift, you may assist with the preparation and management of more complex prescriptions, liaising directly with healthcare professionals as needed. You'll also help in ensuring all safety and quality measures are adhered to.
As your shift winds down, you'll perform a final check on your medication stock, document your daily activities, and ensure that any pending tasks are handed over to the next shift, ensuring smooth continuity of care.
