We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Stafford, a category C Prison located in West Midlands.

HMP Stafford is a male prison with a capacity of 753, 45% of the population is over 50's.

Hours

Monday - Friday 37.5 hours per week.

Salary

This position is full-time contract, you'll receive an annual salary between £28,247 - £32,346 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

What you'll be doing

As a Pharmacy Technician, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
  1. Ensure patient medical records are maintained to the agreed standard at all times and ensure standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard.
  2. Ensure timely administration of medicines through to analysing cost-effective prescribing as defined through our unique health in justice medicines policy.
  3. Work together to make a difference to all the people we support, and make Practice Plus Group, a place where each of us feels appreciated, challenged and supported to do our best work - fulfilling the lives of others.
  4. Communicate complex or sensitive information whilst demonstrating empathy and understanding to patients.
  5. Share information relating to pharmaceutical products, medicines optimisation, drug regimes, medicines legislation and general health education so that the multidisciplinary healthcare team are appropriately informed.

Qualifications required
  1. NVQ Level 3, or above, BTEC or equivalent
  2. Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  3. Up to date with Continual Professional Development (CPD)
  4. Relevant post-qualification pharmacy experience
  5. General GCSE education or equivalent
  6. Able to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
