This is a permanent, full-time position.

The shift pattern for this position is Monday – Friday 9-5, 10.30-6.30 on a rota basis, also working weekends, extended hours, and public holidays.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our friendly and supportive pharmacy team in the delivery of clinical pharmacy services within each specialty ensuring the safe and effective supply of medicines to patients. You will be an integral member of the pharmacy team working in the main pharmacy department and at ward level liaising closely with the wider multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will contribute to the ongoing redesign of pharmacy services and provide dispensing services including: dispensing discharge prescriptions at ward level, providing ward top-up services, and working as part of the multidisciplinary team both at ward level and in the dispensary.

The successful candidate will undertake an SVQ in Pharmacy Services Group Award (at SCQF level 6) as per the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) requirements for the education and training of pharmacy support staff. They will also complete a comprehensive on-the-job training programme which lasts on average 18 months to be fully proficient within the pharmacy support worker role.

The post will rotate within Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Children working 37 hours per week. You will participate in the 10.30-6.30 shift pattern rota and also work weekends and public holidays on a rota basis.

  • A proficient level of general education at National 5/Standard Grade level or above is essential.
  • Proficient IT skills including typing and knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel), email systems (Outlook) is essential.
  • Experience in using stock control systems is desirable along with the ability to plan and organise workload to meet the demanding needs of the service.
  • Previous experience in healthcare/pharmacy or customer-facing role.
