About The Role

Job Purpose:
As a Dispenser, you will be responsible for dispensing medication following best practices, regulatory standards, and guidelines set by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Your role is vital in ensuring the safe and efficient supply of medications to our patients, contributing directly to their care and treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dispense medication following company procedures and GPhC guidelines.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation and adhere to Health & Safety regulations.
  • Participate in team meetings and maintain mandatory learning as per company policy.
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in prescription dispensing.
  • Maintain a clean and organized working environment, ensuring areas are sanitized before and after use.

Goods Receipt:

  • Efficiently and accurately check off received goods.
  • Appropriately locate and quarantine goods as per procedure.

Picking Products:

  • Accurately pick items and ensure correct stock rotation.
  • Verify that products picked meet the required shelf life.

Dispensing:

  • Interpret and dispense prescriptions accurately, following GPhC regulations.
  • Label and assemble medications, ensuring all hygiene requirements are met.
  • Report near misses and seek guidance when unsure about any aspect of the dispensing process.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and assist staff from other operational areas when needed.

About You

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Essential:GCSE English & Maths (or equivalent), NVQ Level 2 in Dispensing (or equivalent), dispensing experience in a high-turnover dispensary, working knowledge of GPhC guidelines.
  • Desirable:Experience in hospital pharmacy, competent in using Microsoft Word & Excel, full UK driving license.

Skills & Personal Qualities:

  • Essential:Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, ability to meet tight deadlines, customer-focused, flexible, team player, reliable, and punctual.
  • Desirable:Lateral thinker, able to accept constructive criticism, and self-motivated in professional development.
