Job summary

Personal Care Assistant for a lady P/T @ £17.23/hr in Whitley Bay - FTE - £33.6k - Whitley Bay - NE25

To provide on-going support in the home for a young lady with understanding of Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, and a Learning Disability.

Main Duties:
  • To have an understanding and/or experience in supporting people with Spastic Quadriplegia, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, a visual impairment, and a learning disability.
  • Provide 1:1 and 2:1 support with personal care, feeding, washing, and dressing.
  • Have some understanding of moving and handling, transfers using equipment and hoists (full training will be provided).
  • Administer medication including emergency Epilepsy medication as required (full training will be provided).
Hours:

12 hours per week including weekends, with a flexible approach to cover shifts as required.

You will be required to support with 1, 2, or, on occasion, 3 calls per day, during mornings, teatime, and evenings. You will be working as part of a very small team.

Rates of Pay:

£16.41 per hour, holiday is 5.6 weeks pro rata.

Person Specification:
  • Preferably have some experience in supporting individuals with disabilities (full training will be provided).
  • Have a genuine interest in supporting adults with complex needs.
  • Be flexible, patient, punctual, and reliable.
  • Respect confidentiality and understand your role in relation to this.

Please note: Dogs are part of the household and they are very friendly.

An enhanced DBS check will be carried out for this post, and the cost will be met by Northumberland County Council.
