Personal Care Assistant for a 19-year-old young man 4 hrs P/W @ £11.68 P/H in NR 13 - Norwich - NR13

I am seeking a dedicated and compassionate personal assistant to support my son, a happy and unique 19-year-old with a fantastic sense of humour and a love for all things tech and tropical fish! Your role will be essential in helping him access the community and engage in various activities that enhance his overall well-being.

My son is 19, but his interests and humour often make him seem like he's "19 going on 60." While he has no understanding of how some aspects of the community work, he’s full of curiosity, especially when it comes to things he enjoys. He learns a lot from YouTube, loves tinkering with technology, and takes great pride in his two large tropical fish tanks, home to around 40 fish. He has a great memory for what he loves, though he might forget the rest of the day’s events!

Job Description:

1. Accompany on outings, help him meet people, and assist him in navigating social situations.
2. Provide help with reading and writing while out and about.
3. Engage with him in his love of technology and tropical fish—bonus points if you share similar interests!
4. Provide companionship and support during outings.
5. Ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for my son.
6. Offering companionship and emotional support to enhance my general wellbeing.
7. Any other reasonable duties as requested.

Person specification

Essential:

1. Full UK driving license holder with appropriate business insurance cover.
2. The ideal candidate would require a calming, reassuring, caring, and patient demeanor.
3. The person I employ must have an understanding of the need for confidentiality in all areas of work, including total respect for my privacy.
4. Fluency in English.
5. A non-smoking environment is essential.

Desirable:

1. Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
2. Flexibility in working hours to accommodate the individual's needs.
3. While not essential, having similar interests would be a bonus, as this could be a great way to connect.

Summary terms and conditions

1. The rate of pay for this position is £11.68 per hour.
2. Hours and times of work: 04 Hrs Per Week, Time discussed further at interview.
3. Mondays and Tuesdays (specific times to be arranged).
4. Flexible scheduling during school holidays to suit both.
5. The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.
6. Free Care Skills training is provided to employed staff.

8. A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
9. Satisfactory references from two referees, one of whom must be your current or last employer.
10. Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months.
