Qualifications

Job Title: Children's Permanence Social Worker
Location: Oldham Council
Salary: 36,648 - 40,221 per annum + 2,000 retention payment
Contract: Permanent

Description:
Oldham Council is looking for passionate and committed Social Workers to join our Permanence Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in securing stable, loving, and long-term homes for children and young people.
As a Permanence Social Worker, you will work to ensure that children in care receive high-quality support and achieve the best possible outcomes. You'll be part of a supportive and enabling workplace with excellent career progression opportunities.

Responsibilities:
  1. Undertake assessments and care planning for children and young people in care.
  2. Develop and implement permanence plans that support stability and long-term outcomes.
  3. Work closely with foster carers, adopters, and connected carers to ensure the best placement matches.
  4. Advocate for children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making.
  5. Prepare and present reports for reviews, courts, and multi-agency meetings.
  6. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality care and support.
Requirements:
  1. Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
  2. Experience: At least two years' post-qualification experience, ideally within safeguarding, child protection, or permanence.
  3. Skills: Strong assessment, planning, and decision-making skills.
  4. Knowledge: Understanding of child development, attachment theory, and permanency planning.
  5. Other Requirements: Ability to travel across Oldham.
