Are you passionate about perinatal mental health? Are you a postgraduate Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist and would like to find out more about working in this field? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our innovative, dynamic, and forward-thinking perinatal mental health community team.
The service provides a range of care packages for women experiencing moderate to severe mental illness in pregnancy and up to 24 months postnatal. This includes, though is not limited to, specialist holistic assessment and tailored support, group interventions and 1:1 psychological therapies. We work closely and in collaboration with partner agencies, such as maternity, health visiting, social care and other mental health services. Some of our families have very complex social circumstances and this needs sensitive handling alongside the management of the mental illness and the ongoing safeguarding of mother and infant.
Being a specialist service, we also provide advice, support and teaching for professionals.
The successful candidate will hold a qualification as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with experience of working in mental health care. They should have experience of working autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an ability to think strategically and demonstrate excellent time management skills. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that is committed to working in a multi-agency recovery-focused way with mums, families and wider social networks across all areas of our service.
As a service we are committed to providing regular and good quality supervision to our staff. We offer a comprehensive induction package, and care co-ordinators have the opportunity to undertake specialist perinatal mental health training both internally and externally.
We recruit people based on their values and qualifications (where required) and believe that their lived experience is an advantage, this means that together we are as diverse as the communities we care for. Simply put, when we employ caring people who act with integrity and have the right skills, we can give those with mental health challenges, learning disabilities and neurodiversity high-quality care and support to live fulfilling lives, and make our staff feel purposeful, happy and valued.
