Job description

The Role

We are seeking an experienced People Director to lead the People function.

Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Shaping and executing our people strategy
  • Fostering cultural change
  • Ensuring that our organisation is well-equipped for future growth
  • Developing comprehensive philosophy and strategy across all key areas, including Talent, Compensation, Employee Engagement, and Organisational Development

This is a hands-on role requiring a balance of strategic leadership and operational execution.

Key Responsibilities

Change Management & Organisational Transformation

  • Develop and execute a people strategy aligned with Lendscape's transformation objectives, explicitly supporting the shift to a product operating model
  • Partner with senior leadership to support organisational change, ensuring alignment with business goals
  • Drive cultural and behavioural change initiatives, enhancing employee engagement and collaboration
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, ensuring a positive and transparent workplace environment
  • Lead special HR projects, ensuring strategy and implementation align with business goals
  • Continuously review the responsibilities of the People team
Talent Acquisition & Development

  • Oversee the design and implementation of workforce planning, talent development, and succession strategies
  • Lead initiatives to attract, retain, and develop top talent, ensuring Lendscape remains an employer of choice
  • Foster a high-performance culture by embedding effective leadership development and people management practices
  • Develop and implement employee engagement programs, including recognition and rewards initiatives
  • Implement performance management systems that drive engagement, career development, and high performance
Compensation, Benefits & HR Operations

  • Establish departmental accountabilities across talent acquisition, HR, compensation & benefits and compliance
  • Co-ordinate remuneration policies and advise senior management on staff salaries in reference to external benchmarks
  • Review and optimise HR policies, processes, and systems to enhance efficiency and compliance
  • Translate key HR data into an effective and commercially focused people strategy, influencing senior management on the best course of action
Employee Relations, Compliance & ESG

  • Provide expert guidance on employee relations, performance management, and workforce restructuring
  • Give counsel and oversee complex employee relations issues, including grievance and disciplinary cases
  • Ensure legal compliance across all HR activities
  • Ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles are embedded across all people practices
  • Provide ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting to align with corporate responsibility goals
  • Actively participate in compliance audits and serve as part of the Compliance Board, ensuring the highest standards of regulatory adherence
Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior HR leadership role with proven management responsibilities across the whole HR and talent spectrum, ideally in a high-growth or transformation-focused environment
  • Strong track record of delivering people strategies that drive cultural and business transformation, including experience with a product operating model
  • Expertise in organisational design, change management, and employee engagement
  • Demonstrable experience in talent management, leadership development, and succession planning
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and compliance requirements in the UK is essential
  • Knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and compliance requirements in South African and the US is advantageous
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to partner with senior leadership
  • Experience in technology, fintech, or financial services sectors is advantageous but not essential
  • Experience in Private Equity is advantageous
  • Understanding and application of the OKRs methodology is desirable
  • CIPD qualification (Level 7) or equivalent is desirable
