Job Summary

To undertake a role within the Perinatal Pelvic Health Physiotherapy team at Croydon University Hospital, providing highly specialised physiotherapy assessment, treatment and advice to perinatal patients with pelvic health conditions on a day-to-day basis. To work closely with other physiotherapy teams across South West London LMNS in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the services provided to patients with pelvic health conditions.

Main Duties of the Job

Pelvic Health Physiotherapist

Band 7

To take a major role in the advanced physiotherapeutic assessment, management and treatment of pelvic health patients with diverse presentations and complex physical conditions; to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised specialist treatment programme. To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records.

To support day-to-day management (reviewing performance and progress, allocation and checking of work) and training to junior physiotherapy staff and deliver training, to ensure competence in carrying out duties with patients with pelvic health problems.

Plan the supervision and education and assess the performance of physiotherapy students as required; this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.

Undertake regular evidence-based audit and research projects (as appropriate) to further own and team's clinical practice. Make recommendations to Clinical Team Leader for changes to practice by the team. Lead the implementation of specific changes to practice, and contribute to service protocols within own area of clinical practice, in collaboration with colleagues.

Person Specification

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) registered
  • BSc Degree in Physiotherapy or Diploma or equivalent
  • Evidence or portfolio of post-graduate continued development in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Desirable

  • Member of Special interest group (POGP or similar)
  • Post graduate qualifications or development in clinical skills up to MSc Level or equivalent with a focus on Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Experience

Essential

  • Advanced specialist knowledge and experience in advanced assessment and treatment of a wide range of complex acute and chronic clinical pelvic health presentations and managing a complex caseload
  • Advanced skills and practice in mentoring and supervision of qualified staff
  • Active involvement in clinical audit, research, and policy/guideline implementation
  • Evidence of working across MDT boundaries to achieve service development

Desirable

  • Experience in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy
  • Experience in Pelvic health Physiotherapy to master's level or equivalent
  • Substantial postgraduate experience in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy
  • Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating training sessions and programmes to university and multi-disciplinary groups
  • Experience of involvement in educational initiatives
  • Experience working in an extended role
