We have an exciting opportunity for a Paramedic to work within MOBY PCN. This post will be based at Greenridge Surgery (B13 0HN) or Poplar Primary Care Centre (B14 7AG).
We welcome applications from candidates wishing to work part time up to 30 hours per week, Mon-Thu.
We are seeking an experienced paramedic with a minimum of five years post qualification who will be able to transition their ability to deliver high quality pre-hospital care into the general practice environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team including Pharmacists, Technicians, Nurses, Doctors, GPA's, Social Prescribers, and Physiotherapists.
You will be supported by the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to develop and expand your clinical and diagnostic skills as well as receive fully funded training, various CPD opportunities, and support from a Lead Paramedic, Paramedic peer review network, and local primary care training hub.
The role will involve conducting clinical assessments using a range of digital resources including telephone, video, messaging, face-to-face consultations, and home visits. Your focus will be on hospital avoidance and acute on-the-day presentations alongside supporting long-term conditions.
You will work as an autonomous, accountable Paramedic in a general practice setting. You will be required to assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of presentations incorporating same-day emergencies, minor illness/injury, and management of long-term conditions. We are looking for individuals who can utilise or develop advanced clinical assessment skills, provide a holistic approach to patient care, and empower patients to make informed choices about their treatment.
Please only apply for this position if you are a Paramedic with five years post registration. Applications from paramedics without this experience, or other healthcare professionals will not be considered.
If not already completed, you will be required to study the First Contact Practitioner level 7 university module. You will be supported to achieve this qualification, which will be a fully funded level 7 university qualification.
Our Health Partnership was set up by local GPs who are passionate about providing high-quality primary care and using their time and skills effectively to benefit patients.
We are currently a GP partnership of 30 practices with 39 sites, serving around 280,000 patients in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and Shropshire.
The partnership offers a shared administrative and management structure, reducing the time doctors spend on admin. It opens up economies of scale to get the best value from budgets and can access new funding streams that are only available to large GP organisations. It has the resources to develop innovative services and effective partnerships with local hospitals and care services.
There will be 3 main strands to this role: visiting patients at home to manage acute illness, seeing patients with acute presentations in the surgery, and developing an area of special interest for patients with long-term conditions. This post does not currently involve any weekend or late evening working.
You will be well supported, with an induction/observation period and clinical support available at all times.
The role will provide a specialist Paramedic resource to support our patients while working in collaboration with other members of the Primary Care Network (PCN) and Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).
The post holder will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating undiagnosed and undifferentiated conditions across all age ranges. Patient assessment will be conducted via telephone, video, messaging, face-to-face, and home visit consultations. The post holder should focus on hospital avoidance and be able to recognise the need for referral or signposting of service users to alternative care pathways where appropriate. There may be a need to engage with palliative care or care home caseloads as part of a multidisciplinary team, which would involve the assessment and treatment of acute and chronic presentations and engaging patients and their relatives in discussions about advanced care planning.
Full training will be provided to support you in developing and maintaining your clinical skills and scope of practice. As part of your role, you will be able to understand and record specific patient targets to ensure that the high levels of care you provide are recorded and reflected across the PCN.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
