Job description

My client is a Top 40 firm of Chartered Accountants. As a leading firm of Chartered Accountants, they look after the accountancy, tax planning and business advisory needs of their clients (individuals, businesses and third sector organisations both in the UK and overseas).


As a Payroll Trainee you will be responsible for processing all aspects of payroll from start to finish for a diverse range of clients. This includes the accurate payment of salaries, the administration of statutory allowances, and managing auto-enrolment pension schemes. You will play a vital role in ensuring payroll is delivered efficiently and compliantly, while maintaining strong, positive client relationships.


This opportunity is perfect for someone eager to start their career in payroll management and keen to acquire hands-on experience in a supportive and professional environment. Work alongside skilled payroll professionals to assist in providing payroll services to a diverse range of clients.


Responsibilities:

  1. Assisting in the preparation and processing of client payrolls accurately and on time.
  2. Helping to maintain and update employee payroll records in the system.
  3. Supporting the team by handling payroll queries from clients and providing solutions.
  4. Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and deadlines related to payroll (FPS, EPS, P45's starter and end of year declarations and P60s).
  5. Aiding in the maintenance of payroll-related documentation and ensuring it is organised and up to date.

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. A genuine interest in payroll and eagerness to learn.
  2. Solid numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  3. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  4. Ability to manage tasks and deadlines efficiently.
  5. Proficiency in IT with knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  6. Previous experience or understanding of payroll processes is advantageous but not essential.
  7. A degree or qualification in a relevant field is beneficial.
