Job description

Our client, a well-established organisation in the education sector is seeking a Payroll Manager to join its Finance and Payroll department. The company provides services to schools across the UK and is dedicated to high-quality service and operational excellence.


Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced payroll professional to take ownership of a busy and evolving payroll function. The payroll system is bespoke, and full on-the-job training will be provided.


To be considered for the role, you'll require the following essentials:
  1. CIPP Qualification or equivalent
  2. Proficiency in SAGE or IRIS Payroll Software
  3. Strong understanding of payroll legislation & compliance
  4. Ability to analyse and report on payroll data
  5. Experience managing pension contributions & reconciliations
  6. Strong communication skills

Within this position, you'll also be:
  1. Managing end-to-end payroll for a growing workforce
  2. Providing payroll reports to senior management and ensuring full regulatory compliance
  3. Overseeing contractual payroll obligations and mitigate financial risks
  4. Administering pension contributions, including public sector schemes
  5. Managing payroll deductions for company schemes
  6. Handling payroll transitions for new contracts & incoming employees
  7. Implementing updates, managing changes to NI rates and pension contributions
  8. Processing & reconciling monthly payroll journals
  9. Liaising with external pension providers, HR teams, and senior manager
  10. Regularly auditing pension contribution rates & payroll submissions
  11. Uploading of the monthly pension contribution reports to pension provider, ensuring payments are collected within agreed timeframes
  12. Carrying out other ad hoc duties as required

Salary is £35,000 - £40,000 per annum, dependant on experience
