Job description

Brook Street are working with an outstanding charitable organisation located in Swansea. We are looking to support them with a new Payroll and Finance Officer. To be considered in this role, you must have extensive experience in Payroll and live within the Swansea area. Ideally you will be AAT qualified to some degree, though QBE is considered.

This role is primarily based in the office, with occasional allowances to work from home at the company's discretion. A fantastic employer with a competitive salary and would suit a skilled finance candidate who is looking to broaden their expertise and grow within a fulfilling business.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare and maintain payroll, including overtime, statutory payments, and RTI submissions
  2. Manage pension auto-enrolment and related reporting
  3. Oversee accounts payable and supplier management
  4. Coordinate purchase ledger activities and support weekly payment runs
  5. Reconcile credit card and petty cash transactions monthly
  6. Assist with month-end journals and meet a 4-working-day month-end deadline
  7. Support finance team members and contribute to financial system improvements
Who We're Looking For

You are a confident, enthusiastic team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You bring:

  1. A finance-related qualification (AAT or equivalent) with commitment to ongoing learning
  2. Experience with payroll and financial software, strong keyboard and data entry skills
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication, adaptable to different audiences
  4. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
  5. Practical problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improving systems
  6. Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
  8. Welsh language skills are an advantage
