Location: Southampton

They are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Part-Time Payroll Administrator to join the HR/Finance team and contribute to the smooth operation of the payroll function. Job Overview:

The Part-Time Payroll Administrator will be responsible for processing payroll for employees across multiple departments, ensuring that all salaries, bonuses, deductions, and benefits are accurately calculated and paid on time. The role will involve close collaboration with the HR and Finance teams to ensure compliance with all relevant payroll regulations, supporting the overall efficiency of the payroll function while adhering to industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing:

    Oversee the processing of monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accurate calculations of wages, bonuses, overtime, statutory deductions (e.g., taxes, pensions), and benefits.

  • Record Keeping:

    Maintain accurate, up-to-date payroll records, including employee data, hours worked, pay rates, and deductions.

  • Compliance & Reporting:

    Ensure that all payroll procedures comply with legal and regulatory requirements, preparing relevant payroll reports for internal and statutory purposes (e.g., tax filings, pension contributions).

  • Benefits & Tax Administration:

    Administer employee benefits programs (such as pensions, healthcare, etc.) and manage tax codes, National Insurance contributions, and other payroll-related matters.

  • Employee Support:

    Handle payroll-related queries from employees, providing timely and accurate responses to questions or issues, and resolving any discrepancies.

  • Timekeeping Systems:

    Ensure that time and attendance records are accurately maintained and reflected in the payroll system.

  • Payroll Year-End Processing:

    Assist with year-end payroll activities, including the preparation of P60s, P11Ds, and other necessary documentation.

  • Audit & Compliance Support:

    Support internal and external audits by providing payroll records and reports as required, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in payroll administration, preferably within the renewable energy or related sectors.

  • Payroll Knowledge:

    A strong understanding of payroll processing, tax laws, statutory deductions, and employee benefits administration.

  • Payroll Software Proficiency:

    Experience using payroll software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or similar), along with strong MS Office skills (particularly Excel).

  • Attention to Detail:

    High level of accuracy in processing payroll, ensuring all calculations and records are correct and compliant.

  • Confidentiality:

    Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential employee information with discretion.

  • Organizational Skills:

    Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Communication Skills:

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Problem-Solving:

    A proactive and solutions-oriented approach to resolving payroll issues and queries.

  • Adaptability:

    Ability to work in a dynamic, growing organization within the renewable energy sector, adapting to changing priorities and demands.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in the renewable energy or environmental sectors.

  • Knowledge of UK and international payroll tax laws, as well as pension schemes and auto-enrollment processes.

  • Experience with managing payroll for a diverse, multi-disciplinary workforce.
